Research from the Kauffman Foundation indicates that small businesses are the backbone of job growth in our economy. Yet cities and traditional economic developers often overlook the impact of young companies.
The giant manufacturing plant that moves into the state or the corporate headquarters that moves to town makes a splash in the news, but it is the entrepreneurs that consistently make a difference. The development of high-growth, entrepreneurial companies is key to consistent economic development.
