NEWS: Entrepreneur and Former Fortune 100 Executive Joins The Venture Center


[LITTLE ROCK, Ark.] May 8, 2017 – The Venture Center announced that entrepreneur and former Fortune 100 executive Wayne Miller has been selected to lead its global VC Fintech Accelerator program.

Miller brings more than three decades of proven performance in a variety of industries and leadership roles. As managing director of The Venture Center’s VC FinTech Accelerator, he is responsible for leading the program—a collaboration empowered by FIS (NYSE: FIS)—to invest and grow financial technology companies.

Miller previously served as CEO of a private equity-backed medical device manufacturer where his efforts dramatically improved the company’s channel access and sales while building an acceleration platform for client companies looking to improve business processes, sales and distribution methods.

Miller has also worked with two start-up technology companies in the healthcare and cyber-security markets and has also taught entrepreneurship as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland. As CEO of, a start-up Internet advertising syndication solution, Miller raised $18 million in venture capital and developed relationships with some of the premier media companies in the world, including Scripts, Gannet, Hearst and Clear Channel.

Other positions have included director of business development for Proxicom (NYSE: PXCM), national director of business development for Deloitte, director of national accounts for Hill-Rom Company (NYSE: HRC) and marketing manager for Kraft Foods (NASDAQ: KRFT). Miller has also owned and operated a national multi-unit automotive franchise as well as New Orleans Emporium, a Washington D.C. restaurant that was written up as one of the best new restaurants in America.

Before relocating to Little Rock from the Washington D.C. metro area, Miller was actively involved in the Kaufman Foundation’s Million Cups program where he served as an organizer and mentor. In 2006, he was inducted as a lifetime member of Kiwanis International for his fundraising efforts for children and is a recipient of the Governor’s Service Award from the State of Virginia for his efforts as a board member of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program to reduce impaired driving.

The 2017 accelerator participants—selected from 295 applicants from all over the U.S. and 39 other countries—will be announced May 10 at a kickoff event held at the Little Rock Technology Park.
