Our History

In 2013, Fast Company released a study ranking the states by innovation. Arkansas ranked 37th. Another study ranked Arkansas 45th for entrepreneurship.  In 2013, a group of entrepreneurs and leaders within the business community set out to establish a program to accelerate the growth of technology based startups and to increase the level of technical talent in central Arkansas and in May 2014, The Venture Center was officially launched.

Today at the VC

The Venture Center takes a decidedly pro-business approach to entrepreneurism. We connect powerful ideas to viability, creating real jobs and boosting the knowledge-based economy in Arkansas. Over the past two and a half years, we have supported the creation of 286 new jobs in Central Arkansas, and our member companies have successfully raised a collective $19 million. That’s an incredible economic impact in a short time and we’re just getting started.

Our membership in the prestigious Startup Federation, strengthens the hand of our member companies by leveraging the resources and connections of the Federation in cities around the globe. It also broadens the global impact that the Venture Center can make.

The Venture Center is also a proud member of Start Here Little Rock, which was launched to close the gap for women and minority entrepreneurs in access to capital.

Through The VC’s proven model of strategic acceleration, focused mentorship and demonstrated viability, our door has quickly become the entry point from which legitimate, scalable businesses grow.
