The Marketing Manager ensures the success of The Venture Center’s programs by promoting, driving attendance or engagement and securing coverage from media outlets.

Leveraging new and existing relationships, the Marketing Manager assists in planning The Venture Center’s Marketing & Communications Strategy and is responsible for the execution of that strategy across multiple channels. The Venture Center runs programs with local, state, national and international audiences.

The Marketing Manager maintains goods relationships between The Venture Center and corporate partner marketing staff. The Marketing Manager occasionally works closely with VP and senior-level, corporate executives to identify/anticipate needs and communicate vision and solutions. The Marketing Manager helps meet the corporate sponsors’ short and long term goals. The Marketing Manager works in collaboration with The Venture Center’s overall team to achieve these goals.

With the mission of establishing a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem, The Venture Center conducts a wide variety of entrepreneurial programming. From carefully curated local networking programs to large programs with international scope, The Marketing Manager will have an opportunity to flex their skills across numerous levels of exposure and engagement. All programs feed into our strategic, four stage growth process that provides a framework for entrepreneurs from idea validation through venture scaling, and creates a roadmap to high growth, investable businesses.

The position reports to the CEO. This position is full-time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and Execute The Venture Center’s Marketing & Communications Plan

  • Work effectively with PR agency partner(s) to plan and execute on strategy

  • Source and manage production of video content with 3rd party video production partners

  • Understanding of the creative process & ability to work with 3rd party producers for asset creation

  • Use digital marketing analytics to to gain insight and inform strategy

  • Position The Venture Center as Arkansas’ thought leader on entrepreneurship & technical training

  • Develop, maintain and grow relationships with Local & National Media/Channels

  • Ensure consistent branding of The Venture Center across all channels and designs

  • Engage with cohort company founders during meetings and events that drive them toward success

  • Identify new strategic relationships with partners and sponsors

  • Recruit and manage Marketing Interns

  • Ensure satisfaction and retention of corporate partners

  • Resolve issues and challenges impeding the success of The Venture Center or our corporate partners

  • Develop and measure strategic content marketing campaign concepts with corporate partner(s)

  • Share best practices and stories from partner engagements to support operations and sales

  • Develop promotional materials, handouts, swag

  • Oversee website properties and copy and ensure they are up-to-date, engaging and effective

  • Drive conversions for entrepreneurial programs across digital channels (web, social, email, etc)

  • Develop content, manage tools and channels for social media, blogs and email campaign

  • Develop communications strategy that includes message map with segmentation of lists

  • Promote Programs & Events - Drive Participation

  • Cover programs and events in real-time with social media, photos and video (stream & capture)

  • Develop post program/event write-up using photos and videos

  • Leverage successes with weekly Mentor feature story and weekly member spotlight story on blog and through other channels

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong interest in the discourse around technology, startups, entrepreneurship, venture capital

  • Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities. You’ll write copy, tweet and execute on sr level plans

  • Experience with content marketing, SEO, SEM and Conversion Management

  • Familiarity with and understanding of CRM tools

  • Ability to manage promotion of multiple programs simultaneously

  • Intense focus on details while managing the big picture

  • 2-5 years in fast-paced project or program management focused position

  • Professional presentation and speaking skills

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Willingness to travel - Position requires 5% travel

  • You are incredibly self-driven, organized and detail oriented

  • Calendar Management in a fast-paced environment

  • Willing to learn and tackle new problems - use initiative and creativity to find new solutions

  • Self driven but also a team player. Identify areas for improvement and take initiative!!

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as well as familiarity with the early-stage, venture-backed company ecosystem is preferred

  • Experience interacting with corporate accounts and engaging with high level executives

  • Familiarity with the corporate and startup world and are able to act as a “translator”

  • Comfortable with a minimal amount of direction but high expectations
