Welcome to our Spark! spotlight series, where we introduce you to the amazing entrepreneurs who are participating in our Spark! 2025 program with a quick Q&A! Spark! is a small business pre-accelerator that puts the right people, opportunities, and access in place for local entrepreneurs in Arkansas to grow their venture to the next level.
Can you tell us a little about yourself and what motivated you to join Spark!?
I’m a motivated woman who has gotten her second wind in life. I am an empty nester. I love community service and service work. What motivated me to join spark is the community of other entrepreneurs as well as the wealth of knowledge I have already gained from my time with the Venture Center. I just know this will be a fantastic journey.
What are your short-term and long-term career goals, and how do you hope this program will help you achieve them?
Short-term career goal is becoming a vendor for DHS to provide services to more individuals with disabilities. I would love to operate an adult day center to support building community. Long-term career goals is becoming the #1 Employment service for adults with disabilities as well as individuals who are justice-involved. By fully participating in this program; my hope is to gain business organizational leadership, community, and be that spark for the disability and re-entry community.
What is the most valuable piece of business advice you’ve been given?
The most valuable piece of business advice came from my son. Make networking your favorite pastime. He explained networking has gotten him more business deals than his college degree.
What is a professional achievement that you are most proud of and why?
Becoming a city, state and federal contractor.
