Name: Christine Scarlett & Lauren Weaver | Co-founders, upSKILLery

Please share a little about your background, personally and/or professionally.

We met in private practice and worked together on the leadership team for 4 years before leaving and launching our personal brand, The Patient Whisperers. We are now speakers, podcast hosts (Success Confidentials) team trainers, and coaches specializing in healthcare practice growth, culture, and patient experience.

Please share about your business, where it’s located, and what led you to starting it.

After 2 years of 1:1 consulting, we realized we needed to scale to help as many people as possible since there are only two of us! In July 2024 we launched our second brand and business: upSKILLery. Online virtual coaching for practice owners, admins and marketers + training for healthcare practice teams on soft skills in patient care. We’re wrapping up beta testing with partners across the country and are thrilled and humbled by the positive response. We are both from AR, and our businesses are currently located in NWA.

What goals do you hope to achieve for your business during your time in VCWoman Achieve?

While we are experts in patient care, culture and marketing, we are LEARNING how to be entrepreneurs and business owners ourselves. We believe that wise people lean on other experts in their areas of weakness, so we are excited to learn from women who have successfully grown a start-up into a large-scale business or national brand.

What drew you to being part of a mentorship group specifically curated for non-men? How has being a woman or non-binary individual impacted your journey as an entrepreneur?

We believe that this is a new era for women: that women don’t have to work like men to be successful. That actually, if we lean into our unique essence that is woman, it’s our superpower.

What are three things you enjoy doing outside of work?

We both love shopping, travel and being active.

What is your favorite part about being an entrepreneur?

That we’re creating something completely unique to us, in our own way, that we were meant to do. Building success for ourselves not someone else.
