Name: Kimberly Kinder | Business/Profession: Care Management & Healthcare Advocate, Kinder Senior Advocacy

Please share a little about your background, personally and/or professionally.

I am a daughter, wife and mother, who has worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. From that perspective, I have received healthcare, advocated for healthcare for my own family, and for clients for all of that time. It has given me a unique perspective on all of the things missing and resource management that is required in order to receive and implement good healthcare for the aging process in order to keep our aging population at home and aging well. This is an endeavor to both decrease the strain on the healthcare industry and improve the aging process for as many people as possible.

Please share about your business, where it’s located, and what led you to starting it.

I am located in Central Arkansas and endeavor to eventually service the entire state. Working in the healthcare industry, and seeing all of the missing pieces, the inability for people to manage it on their own, and frustrations with all of the different service arms in insurance, has led me to this business idea.

What goals do you hope to achieve for your business during your time in VCWoman Achieve?

Create a true business model that will allow me to continue, and also monetize it in a way that I can serve as many people as possible. I would like to explore the idea of a nonprofit arm to serve those who are in marginalized communities. Additionally, I would like mentorship on the idea of partnering with someone to speed up the process.

What drew you to being part of a mentorship group specifically curated for non-men? How has being a woman or non-binary individual impacted your journey as an entrepreneur?

As with many industries, the healthcare industry in the upper echelon is predominantly men and a difficult area to navigate for women and minorities. Often times the respect that should be given and or resources offered are not there. As an entrepreneur, I do want to be able to prove that my knowledge And abilities are just as valuable. Additionally, I have had very good feedback about this program, and I very much look forward to working with other strong, independent and successful women.

What are three things you enjoy doing outside of work?

1. Spending time with my family.
2. Anything outdoors like biking, hiking, and exploring nature.
3. Networking/meeting other individuals and hearing their stories.

What is your favorite part about being an entrepreneur?

Independent thinking.
