How Right Start 4 Kids Can Boost Your Group Insurance Enrollment
Does this sound familiar?
You own or manage a small business and are proud to offer comprehensive health insurance, including generous, affordable dental and vision coverage from Delta Dental of Arkansas. But you’ve noticed that not all eligible employees have signed up.
How can you boost enrollment?
Here is a “kid-friendly” strategy: Promote Right Start 4 KidsSM to your team.
What is Right Start 4 Kids?
Right Start 4 Kids (RS4K) is dental benefit for children 12 or younger who are covered on a Delta Dental plan: It pays 100% of all covered dental treatments.
Good-bye, deductibles; good-bye, co-insurance; and good-bye, waiting periods for all dental services (except orthodontics) children obtain from a network dentist.
The dental plan’s annual maximum still applies.
Delta Dental of Arkansas added RS4K as an expanded benefit to its Delta 1000, 1500 and 2500 dental plans for small businesses in 2023. No additional premium payments are necessary to use RS4K.
As a result, your employees will pay fewer out-of-pocket expenses and save money.
Dental Services Covered by Right Start 4 Kids
RS4K will pay 100% for all covered services provided by a Delta Dental network dentist. These include:
- Cleanings
- Exams
- X-rays
- Fluoride treatments
- Sealants
- Fillings
- Crowns
- Tooth removal.
Braces are not eligible for 100% coverage under RS4K. When an out-of-network dentist provides dental services, coverage levels will be reduced.
Right Start 4 Kids Serves as Incentive to Enroll in Dental Coverage
People respond to incentives, and RS4K offers two big ones:
- Cost SavingsRS4K eliminates most out-of-pocket expenses for dental care for children 12 and under, so your employees will save money.
- Brighter Smiles and Healthier Lives for the Children
Regular dental care for kids is crucial for promoting good oral health, preventing cavities and gum disease. DYK that toothache pain ranks among the top reasons why children miss school or can’t concentrate in class? Those absences have even been shown to decrease academic performance.
Put differently, taking children to the dentist for regular check-ups can make them better students. The dental visits also help establish healthy habits and a positive attitude towards dental care that can last a lifetime.
And now, thanks to RS4K, there is no longer a reason to postpone the next appointment.
3 Ways to Promote RS4K to Your Employees
Here are 3 ways of how you can promote RS4K to your team:
- Make sure the information is top of mind throughout the year. Don’t limit yourself to sharing information about RS4K during recruiting efforts, onboarding new team members and Open Enrollment.Instead, communicate about it regularly in your company newsletters, emails, Intranet postings and in-person meetings. Download our flyer to get started. Do explain that employees currently not enrolled in your company healthcare plans may do so during Open Enrollment or following a qualifying life event like marriage, divorce or birth of a baby.
- Host regular workshops or seminars on various overall and oral health topics as an indirect but effective way to highlight your employee benefits package, especially expanded dental benefits like RS4K. Invite guest speakers like healthcare and oral healthcare providers and your Delta Dental of Arkansas account manager for expert guidance.A school nurse or counselor from a nearby school might be an excellent choice to explain the impact of poor oral health on academic performance.
- Use multiple channels to reach your employees effectively. Consider both traditional methods such as email, flyers and posters and new channels like social media, company apps, and interactive online portals.
By using these strategies, you are likely to increase your employees’ benefit knowledge and appreciation and stimulate enrollment rates.
