We are so excited to introduce you to an ongoing series where we celebrate the success and achievements of the amazing members of Woman Achieve. Meet Crystal Kohanke one of our mentors!

The Venture Center: What inspired you to participate in this program?

Crystal Kohanke:

I was new to Little Rock and I wanted to meet people in the community. Also, it has always been a passion of mine to help support women as they learn and grow in their careers. This opportunity was the perfect match for me.

What value has the mentorship program brought to you both personally and professionally?

Not only did I learn about the business my mentee was involved in, I learned about all the other businesses represented in the program. I met some amazing women, I had a lot of fun, and I felt like I was able to do something to help a woman entrepreneur grow her business.

What growth have you seen in both your mentee and yourself throughout this program?

My mentee was able to think of different markets for her business. She met different people in the industry and outside of the industry to help her think about how her marketing and pricing strategy affects her success.   She was also able to practice presenting in front of large groups of potential business partners in a safe space.  I learned a lot about being an entrepreneur. I have never owned my own business but through my association with this program learned about the challenges of a small business: from finances, tech, legal and regulatory compliance. A lot comes other with being your own boss.

What advice would you give to those interested in applying for this program?

Be open-minded, be ready to learn, and have some fun. These are serious women with serious goals, and they are all in.
