The Venture Center: What inspired you to participate in this program?

Elizabeth Small:

The amount of positive energy when meeting and networking with entrepreneurs of all ages recharges my entire being.  I would have benefited from joining a program dedicated to sharing guidance early in my career.  The VCWoman Achieve program provides the right amount of structure while allowing each paired partner group to create their own relationship.

What value has the mentorship program brought to you both personally and professionally?

I value the dynamic and new ways my mentee is using technology, and she has helped me see how business can transpire through a new lens.  She has enforced and renewed my optimism in how opportunities may be handled differently while maintaining efficiency. 

What growth have you seen in both your mentee and yourself throughout this program?

My mentee uses opportunities wisely and is strategic in her choice of networking events and experiences.  “Persistence” is a word that describes both of us and seeing her use the trait to achieve her goals has been triumphant.  Setbacks don’t break her; she uses them as re-routes to the next growth step. She allows me to share my achievements with her and the two-way street has been refreshing and encouraging. 

What advice would you give to those interested in applying for this program?

The VCWomen Achieve Program is for those yearning to grow, connect, and learn.  The only cost is “time” and the opportunities gained are priceless.  Meeting amazing women in business is always good, but forming lifelong connections makes for a truly holistic experience.  Apply now!
